Regional Training on Using Population Census Data for Planning and Decision Making: Thematic Analysis on Youth (e-Learning Phase-Online)

Objective

The regional course aims to enhance skills of official statisticians and planners/policy makers in using population and housing census data in support of planning and policymaking on issues that affect youth. The e-learning phase will provide basic information and statistical background essential for understanding the rationale and objectives for collecting, processing and analysing census and related statistical data.

Structure of the Course

The e-learning phase consists of three lessons and two assignments. Participants are required to start with lesson one and can proceed to lessons two and three only after completing the exercise after each lesson. After completing lesson three on basic demographic analysis of census data, participants can proceed to assignment I on creating population pyramid in Excel and then assignment II on preparing census data files/tables for use in thematic analysis. After submitting assignments I and II, participants can take the on-line course-completion test. To secure the qualifying score of minimum 80% in the test, participants are allowed to take the test as many times as they like. By securing minimum 80% score in the test and satisfactorily completing and submitting assignments I and II, participant will be qualified for the F2F phase of the training.
