In response to the demand for more technical assistance in nationalizing and implementing the generic template for National Quality Assurance Framework (g-NQAF) in countries of the region, SIAP organized its sixth Regional Course on Statistical Quality Management and Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics, in Quezon City, Philippines during 30 September to 4 October 2013. The course was conducted in collaboration with Statistical Research and Training Centre (SRTC) of the Philippines, UNSD and Statistics New Zealand and focused on steps required for developing an action plan for “implementation of national quality assurance frameworks”. The training course brought together twenty middle level managers and experts from national statistical systems (NSS) of eleven countries (Armenia, India, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste) in the region. Participants (a) reviewed guidelines for the template for a g-NQAF, and evaluated the extent to which elements proposed by g-NQAF are assured in the participating national statistical offices; and (b) discussed possible options for approaches to operationalizing of the template in national statistical systems of their respective countries.
As a side event, the course participants attended a session on “Quality Assurance” in the 12th National Statistical Convention organized by National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) of the Philippines.
