The Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) and the Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21) will jointly conduct the Regional training Course on the national Strategies for the Development of Statistics (NSDS) from 9 to 12 December 2014, in Chiba, Japan.
The training course is geared towards apprising participants on the new NSDS guidelines developed by PARIS21 specifically on the design and implementation processes, permanent steps and the sequenced steps in the design process, and links to existing norms, tools and good practices. The course will likewise provide an overview of the survey planning and costing tool designed to aid in financing the implementation of the NSDS. The training course aims to strengthen the capacity of senior or middle-level managers of national statistical offices in Asian countries, in anticipation of their role as national NSDS coordinator, to undertake strategic planning for statistical development.
Following countries are expected to participate in the course: Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
