The Fourth RAP Regional Workshop on Building Training Resources for Improving Agricultural and Rural Statistics will be held from 14 to 18 December 2014 in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran. The workshop, organized by the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) is part of the training programme of the Asia-Pacific Regional Action Plan to Implement the Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics (RAP). The workshop will be conducted in collaboration with RAP implementing partners—the Asia-Pacific Regional Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization and the Asian Development Bank—and will be hosted by the Statistical Research and Training Centre of the Statistical Centre of Iran, Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
This training workshop focuses on capacity building on the second pillar of the Global Strategy -- integration of agricultural statistics into national statistical systems through implementation of a methodology set that includes a Master Sampling Frame (MSF) for agriculture and an integrated survey framework. It will provide an overview of the ongoing methodological work on data integration in the context of integrated survey strategies and present issues and recommendations addressed in this work.
The training workshop is designed for middle- and senior-level government statisticians and officials from RAP priority countries whose core responsibilities include technical design and implementation of survey data collection systems for agricultural and rural statistics and who have experience in developing training content and materials and conducting trainings on survey methods for producing and compiling agricultural and rural statistics.
