For the second time, SIAP collaborated with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP), UNWomen Centre of Excellence for Gender Equality (CENTRE) and Statistics Korea in the conduct of a subregional training on producing and using gender data to advance gender equality. The training was hosted by Statistics Korea (KOSTAT) in Daejeon, Republic of Korea from 29 October to 3 November 2023. It targeted both data users (line ministries and gender bureaus, SDG focal points) and producers (national statistics offices) from ASEAN subregion: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, LAO PDR, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste and Viet Namm, as well as the ASEAN Secretariat.

The training was based on the Gender Statistics Training Curriculum and was designed to include a combination of theory, discussions and hands-on practical exercises. It also featured presentations from the Statistics Korea, UNODC-KOSTAT Centre of Excellence and Korea Women’s Development Institute. As a concluding activity participants had an opportunity to deliver group presentations that allowed for the application of the skills and knowledge acquired during the training and demonstrated their understanding of the main course content.
