The Tokyo International University (TIU) has been accepting qualified ex-participants of selected SIAP training courses, who have performed very well at SIAP and are interested in acquiring a Master's degree in Economics to attend its Graduate School of Economics, in accordance with the agreement between TIU and SIAP.
TIU recognizes that the courses at SIAP are equivalent to the courses offered at graduate schools in Japan and grants credits depending on the course completed. The requirement for the Master's degree at TIU is to finish 32 units plus a thesis.
Details on the target participants, eligibility of applicants as well as application procedures are provided in Annex 1 (pdf).
Eligible ex-SIAP participants who are interested in acquiring a Master’s degree in Economics at the Graduate School of Economics of TIU are required to apply directly to the TIU Entrance Exam Office (please refer to Item A3 of Annex 1).
After receipt of required application documents, TIU will request the SIAP Director to issue a letter of recommendation for each of eligible applicants based on their performance in the SIAP training courses. Acceptability to the Graduate School of Economics will be judged by TIU based on the SIAP recommendation and other submitted documents. Ex-SIAP participants are not required to take the entrance examination. TIU will send the notification of admission to the successful applicants on 5 June 2010 along with relevant documents by mail.
Please note that application forms and documents are required to be submitted directly to TIU not to SIAP. SIAP is not involved in the receipt and processing of applications to TIU.
TIU also assists the most qualified applicants in applying for scholarship of the Government of Japan through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXST). The number of available scholarships is very limited. Below is the outline of the scholarship provided by the Government of Japan through MEXST for the Academic Year 2009 for your reference:
