Working closely with the ILO, SIAP provides training on standards, classifications and recommendations on labour force concepts and definitions and analysis of data on labour issues such as informal employment, informal workers and labour migration.

This course is designed to create a foundation on Labour Accounts. The main objectives of this course are to outline the general principles for compiling a labour account, introduce the International Labour Organization’s four-step process for creating a labour account, and describe the benefits of producing a labour account.

14 to 18 October 2019 | Perak, Malaysia

The main objective of this course is to develop the knowledge and skills of participants on the compilation of labour accounts. Australian labour accounts and issues that are encountered during compilation will be used as a case study. Malaysia’s data will be used as an exercise on the compilation of labour accounts for one of the quadrants.

This regional course aims to better equip national and international stakeholders in the new SDGs statistical monitoring system. It is designed to enhance institutional capacity to identify, collect, analyse and disseminate labour market information and other indicators related to decent work. It emphasises the importance of processing Labour Force Surveys (LFS) microdata to produce and disseminate SDGs indicators.

The main objective of the Course is to better equip and situate national and international stakeholders in the new SDGs statistical monitoring system. It is designed to enhance institutional capacity to identify, collect, analyse and disseminate labour market information and other indicators related to decent work. It emphasises the 19th ICLS resolution on statistics of work, employment and labour underutilization as an important pillar of the new SDG indicator framework, not only for targets in Goal 8 but also in other Goals related to the decent work agenda.

The Regional Course on Statistics on Informality: Informal economy, work and employment will be conducted from 6 to 10 July 2015 in Chiba, Japan. The course is organized by the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP), a regional institution of the United States Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (ESCAP), in collaboration with the Statistics Division of ESCAP, International Labour Organization (ILO); Women in Inforrmal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing (WIEGO); and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Government of Japan (MIC).
