The National Strategies for the Development of Statistics (NSDSs) provide a comprehensive framework through which countries can identify, prioritise, and enhance targeted capabilities at individual, organisational, and system levels for effective, efficient, and inclusive production of official statistics.

The Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21) in collaboration with the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) developed a unique training course for NSS, NSO leaders and national planning senior managers to improve strategic planning for data and statisticsdevelopment, using innovative tools and methods. The course will give a thorough introduction to the NSDS design process and introduces the data gaps assessment and planning using ADAPT.

24 to 27 November 2020 | Virtual Training

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21) in collaboration with Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) developed a unique training course for NSS, NSO leaders and national planning senior managers to improve strategic planning for data and statistical development, using innovative tools and methods. The course will give a thorough introduction to the NSDS process and introduces a holistic approach to capacity development, Capacity Development 4.0.

11 to 14 November 2019 | Chiba, Japan

The training course is geared towards a) familiarising participants to the NSDS framework, anchored on the results based management principle; b) providing overview and understanding of new topics that are crucial to consider in strategic planning; and c) linking the ADAPT in the NSDS and national development planning processes.

06 to 09 November 2018 | Chiba, Japan

Training course will feature an intensive workshop on the Advanced Data Planning Tool (ADAPT), an innovative web-based planning tool for National Statistical Offices, national planning agencies, and other data producers to document data demands and supply and identify the data gaps in policy, planning and monitoring frameworks.

The NSDS training course in Asia and the Pacific region aims to strengthen capacity of middle-level managers at the National Statistical Offices which enables them to lead the design and implementation of NSDS at a country level, consistent with the guidelines and fundamental principles for structuring the preparation and implementation of NSDS, and taking into consideration the country’s needs for Agenda 2030.

The training course is geared towards introducing participants to the new NSDS guidelines developed by PARIS21 specifically on the design and implementation processes, and links to existing norms, tools and good practices. It will likewise provide an overview of the Sustainable Development Goals and the survey planning and costing tool designed to aid in financing the implementation of the NSDS. The training aims to strengthen the capacity senior managers of national statistical offices responsible for strategic planning.
