Representatives of national statistics offices, statistical training institutes and gender experts agreed on the approach for reviewing and enhancing the content of the Gender Statistics Training Curriculum to further bolster its uptake and use. The curriculum was developed in 2020 by UN Women and the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP), under the guidance of the Sub-Group on Gender Statistics Training. It was designed to guide trainers on how to conduct related training. Since its launch, it has been used extensively by training institutes and universities across Asia and the Pacific, as well as Europe and Africa.

At the meeting, Sub-Group members identified the specific content to be either updated or added to the existing modules of the curriculum; assigned tasks and timelines for completion; and drafted an advocacy plan and monitoring and evaluation strategy. The Sixth Meeting of the SGGST was hosted by SIAP in Chiba Japan from 5 - 7 June 2023.
