12. Responsible Consumption and Production
Overview
In today’s rapidly evolving economic environment, the need for accurate and more timely price statistics has never been greater. Rising oil prices have contributed to higher costs for basic goods and services through increasing transportation and distribution expenses. At the same time, trade disruptions and changing tariff structures have placed upward pressure on the prices of commodities that Pacific Islands Countries and Territories rely heavily on through imports.
The Pacific Community, Statistics New Zealand, and SIAP jointly organized this subregional workshop to strengthen the national capacity across PICTs in the concepts and methods of measuring consumer price index, including its practical application in the Pacific context.
